Beara Way; Day 7 Allihies to Castletownbere

Short 14K day today so no rush. Enjoyed a tea and a bit more conversation with Liam and John before walking out of town just before 10.

Ran into a few people today, mostly Germans of course. Chatted with a nice couple from Heidelberg for 10 minutes or so.

The trail was cut off but I somehow got back on the old wrong trail but only had to go over two fences that were no big deal.

Was rewarded with some beautiful views of the Castletownbere Harbor below. Walking into town I stopped at tourist office to get B&B recommendation. The dude there was a German. Funny. He suggested Murphy’s down the street so I walked on and somehow got into a conversation with Teddy Black, a white haired guy around my age I suppose who is the local Seanachai (storyteller) and is doing a session in Cork on Wednesdays in late June in Cork so D and I might make that.

Teddy Black the local Seanachai or “Storyteller”

He was going through all the history of the local area which was nice but I was pretty tired. Hope to see him. Turned out John Murphy is a Camino veteran so I was well received and have a simple Camino like room upstairs of his restaurant. Then went back to Murphys for my afternoon tea. Had a decent fish and chips at Murphys before bed.
