CAMINO DEL NORTE-Day 11-12

IT’S A LONG WAY FROM TIPPERARY TO SANTIAGO. Days 123-124.

Walked on enjoying beautiful calm in dark and then changing skies of gray, orange, yellow to blue.

Took coastal walk to ferry taking us to Santander. Inese came running up to the boat just as we were leaving.

We carried on together visiting cathedral in Santander. Then a long walk out of Santander with scenic countryside to Boo and Albergue Pidar where we met Lorina from Germany and bought wine at animal food store. Wine was 1.40€ so we had too much with snack on upstairs terrace and then nice dinner in Albergue. 31k

2 Oct:

Woke with hangover and enjoyed tea on terrace and left with Inese at 9:30 meeting Camille and Isabel and Jean Louie and Belgian dude at train station where we took 2 minute train ride over river which saved about 10k of urban walking.

From left; me, Jean Louie, Camille, Isabel, Belgian dude, Inese

We then split up and Inese and I took shortcut on road but with good views into Mar and Requejada.

Evidently Inese can talk to horses

Continued on to beautiful town of Santillana where we had local cheese and a bocadillo and wine and then got stamp at Parador. Beautiful medieval city.

We later arrived at Church of San Pedro where beautiful Gunther gave us cool tea and a private tour of bell tower with elderly French couple.

Evonna arrived just as we were leaving and the three of us continued on all the way to Albergue Viejo Lucas in Cobreces where they had nice beds and duvets for 14€. 33k
