We got lucky with the Dover to Dunkirk ferry. Had a Sunday dinner in London 2 weeks ago with our Camino buddies; Thomas and Aoife. Mentioned our concern about catching the ferry as it does not allow pedestrians currently. They were kind enough to plan a holiday to France that included driving two pelligrinos from Dover to Calais.

It was a bit tight with 4 of us in a Mini Cooper but doable. Such a beautiful day. Driving from Dunkirk to Escalles we could see the White Cliffs of Dover.

Can not begin to imagine the feelings of British soldiers trapped at Dunkirk early June 1940. So close yet so far from home.
