One of the best parts of walking in Ireland is engaging with locals. Joe spent 15 minutes sharing local folklore and also provided a book and movie recommendation about ancient monastic life and Skellig Michael; Sun Dancing by Geoffrey Moorhouse and the Werner Herzog film ‘Heart of Glass’:

Near Ballyferriter. Site of 1580 massacre of a mix of Irish, Spanish, and Italian men and women after a long seige. The rebels surrendered but the British executed all 500:
