Dingle Way; Day 5 Dunquin to Ballyganneen-26K

With the 3 Irish women, we checked out some of today’s incredible views last night as the sun was setting.

The morning started out cloudy but a truly gorgeous day with magnificent views all along the walk.

From shore down from Blasket Information Centre

Rare for me but I will break down today into two posts as there were so many beautiful views. The second post will be Smerwick Harbor shots.

Ran into a local guy, Joe, who gave me some of the local lore about a great battle here where a mix of 600 Spanish, Italian, and Irish soldiers were massacred by English forces.

With friendly local Joe.

Several scenes of Star Wars The Last Jedi were shot here.

I really did not think to much today, just soaked in the beautiful scenery.

Monument to massacre of 1580 of 600 soldiers by English forces.

Arrived at Coill an Rois and served tea and cakes by Jimmy Bruic. Great guy. He took us to An Bothar Pub where I had nice lamb dinner and sat in bar enjoying a pint. As good as a spot in all of Ireland to enjoy a pint.

Beautiful walk back to Jimmy’s where we got a bit lost as it followed the Dingle Way.
