Kerry Way; Day 4 Glenbeigh to Cahersiveen-37K

Our morning started with one of the better Full Irish breakfasts we have enjoyed as well as a nice chat with very friendly and accommodating Ann of Emir View B&B.

We then had a delightful first kilometer passing through the Glenbeigh Fairy Forest.

The trail then took us back towards the south side of the mountains and we followed the trail that eventually took us to a road which we followed due west a long way.

Then pretty straight on trail and then rural road with a nice uphill through forest and then on ridge along northern coast.

After about 18K we came to a left hand turn off the road. It would have been  wise to continue on the road through Inchentrea to Cahersiveen.

We kept on the Kerry Way trail and it was very wet and we ended up walking 37k by veering off the main trail at Coars.

Interesting Memorial to Frank O’Grady who was an IRA member “murdered” by Irish Free State soldiers in the Civil War.

At Coars, Maps.Me showed we were still 8K away and it was actually more like 11K. At this point we were soaked and tired. But we trudged on getting lost at one point costing us another k or so but we eventually got close.

A very nice guy, Brendan, gave us a lift the last 2k to hard to find Southern Sun Inn. For some reason they have no sign.  Not friendly by Irish standards but ok cottage.

I walked 1k into town and had delicious Salmon at Quinlans.
