DAY 1 SAILING THE NILE BY FELUCCA:
Enjoying the quiet sailing down The Nile on a felucca, traditional wood sailboat.
No motor so going as fast as the wind allows.
Our crew includes 65 year old Captain Sabri and First Mate and Cook, Hamada.
We stop at a small village with no tourists for lunch and a walk.
Later we beach after a beautiful sunset and walk to Sabri’s home for a feast.
Interesting how we and his family and guests are split as we dine with the guys while the women and kids dine in another area.
We talk into the evening with his brother and nephew and fortunately get a tour and are able to thank the cooks for a delicious Egyptian meal of roast chicken and rice, jute mallow soup, potatoes in tomato sauce, bean soup, Egyptian spring rolls, a tomato/cucumber/coriander salad, and of course plenty of pita bread.
