Montboillon to Chapelle des Buis:

Stopped in Besançon to take in some very impressive Roman ruins and the Cathedral St. Jean as well as a tour of Victor Hugo’s house.

About 3:00 we headed up mountain which was a great feeling after 30 days of mostly flatlands to Chapelle des Buis, a Franciscan monk center.

Monks Nicolas and Max were late but we were welcomed with tea and cookies and the expected simple but adequate rooms of Franciscan monks.

We attended an intimate vespers session at 6:45 in chapelle.

Just the two monks and 2 pilgrims. Enjoyed sitting with the monks at dinner and Nicolas kindly shared some fresh tomatoes.

This was a place I would like to return to for a few days.
