VIA FRANCIGENA-Canterbury to Rome Day 63

Day 62-63 Massa to La Selvaiana:
After 1500 kms. and 63 days we are burning out a bit.
Seeing the waters of the Mediterranean 2 months later we have regained some “juice”!
At least enough to get us into Lucca tomorrow where we’ll take a needed rest day!
Last night Alessandro, an Italian buddy whom I know from Palma de Mallorca picked us up at our hostel and drove us to see the beach and Puccini’s home.
Puccini and Mika in front of his house

He then cooked us a home made Italian dinner which we enjoyed along with a bottle of Chianti in his family’s hotel restaurant kitchen.
Felt like I was in a scene from the Godfather.
Alessandro is a great cook like pretty much everybody from Italy

Coming into Pietrasanta was a Botero Statue. Everywhere you looked there is art in this historic art center.
+
There were also 2 Botero Murals at the Misericordia Chapel in town.
