VIA FRANCIGENA-Canterbury to Rome Day 71

Day 71: Gambasi Terme to San Gimignano:

Short but intensely beautiful walk today through the rolling hills of Tuscany.
One winery after another and surprisingly they are harvesting today.
One winery after another and surprisingly they are harvesting today.
We walked through Champagne in late August and they were harvesting. 3 weeks ago they were harvesting in Aoste Valley.
Leftover grape peels or Pomace used for things like cream of tartar, grappa, animal feed, etc.
Enjoying the Chianti’s and other Tuscan wine.
Winery before San Gimignano
I was last in San Gimignano 26 years ago and had forgotten how beautiful it is.

San Agostino

After touring San Agostino’s we tried a butcher shop/restaurant next door sitting outside in piazza. Had an incredibly good tagliere tray and steak tartare with 2 bottles of good wine. Took a rare nap afterwards.
