9/11 Memorial in the unlikely place of Kinsale, Ireland

Denise and I did a walk on Old Head Peninsula near Kinsale. Driving back we decide to visit the Ringfinnan Garden of Remembrance. It is a bit difficult to find and we drive up and park and are the only ones there. The Garden is at the top of the hill in the very quiet Irish countryside. At the gate there is a sign explaining how Kathleen Cait Murphy planted 343 trees for the 343 Firemen killed on 9/11:

The Memorial is simple with each tree having a small white sign with the fireman’s name on it and an American flag staked in the ground. The tribute is simple but powerful. We walk through it in silence feeling heavy with sadness:
