Departed Cappa House after one more big Irish breakfast and a nice chat with Mark. I said is school right in town? He replied, “No, it’s in the Village”. I laughed. Evidently they call Castletownbere “town” and Eyeries “the village”. Reminded me of Micaleen O’Flynn’s line “We spell it Cohan over here”.
The trail headed up the hills and then back down into a valley before ascending again.
Then following a middle hill trail and down again before reaching a road that ascended a kilometer or so to a high pass before descending into Allihies.
Beautiful views of the town and the peninsula jutting out to Dursey Island.
Made it to Allihies Village Hostel about 1PM. Checked out the market and had a ham and cheese and chips and salad at O’Neills Pub. Nice pub with good food.
Thankful there are just two other guests, enabling a long conversation with John Kelly, the manager of the hostel, about god, atheism, nature and the actions of man.
Found sleeping a bit difficult as my mind was racing thinking of the end tomorrow of thie Dublin to Dursey Island Section of the E8.
