Kerry Way; Day 6 Waterville to Caherdaniel-15K

After 2 long difficult days, we have a relatively easy 15K to Caherdaniel. Consequently, we took our time over an excellent Breakfast featuring Irish Salmon and all the usual accompaniments.

While it was cooler than previous days, the skies were blue and we had magnificent views of the sea and various islands including the famous Skelligs including Skellig Michael, site of an ancient monastery as well as the retirement home of Luke Skywalker.

As hard core pilgrims constantly on the move, we enjoy and deeply appreciate slowing down sometimes to connect more with the local nature and this was certainly one of those days. We stopped frequently, whenever a bench or comfy spot presented itself.

Going over a pass we stopped at an ancient Dolmen and flat rock sitting spot to take in one of the most spectacular view points in Kerry and all of Ireland for that matter.

We then continued on to Thidwick B&B, our accommodation for the night and relaxed enjoying their grand views before continuing on The Kerry Way to Caherdaniel.

In Caherdaniel, we stopped at the only pub, The Blind Piper, and sat outside enjoying a couple of pints on a beautiful sunny afternoon. We had a nice conversation with a few locals before sharing a delicious roast pork and burger.

Unfortunately, by the time we caught a cab back to the B&B the fog had settled in and obstructed the views.

We felt very fortunate for the beautiful morning and early afternoon. Grateful for the entire day.
