Day 47 Carema to Ivrea:

Today’s experience was wonderful; walking through rural Northern Italy. {CAPTION}

Another beautiful walk in nature through the mountains and vineyards of the region as we are leaving the Alps in our wake after 2 weeks or so. {CAPTION}

Met Segundo who posed for a photo as he harvested his grapes for his Riesling wine. {CAPTION}

In Borgofranco d’Ivrea we ran into our Italian friends, Barbara and Selene once more and decided to walk together to Ivrea. {CAPTION}

About 5K out as we walked through a forest we came to a road and an old farmhouse set back about 20 meters from the road. 3 old friends, Francesco, Neri, and Aurelio were having their afternoon lunch. {CAPTION}

They invited us to join them and soon we were offered a sampling of each dish; salami from Venice, pancetta from Naples, polenta grilled, polenta mixed with gorgonzola, grilled eggplant, sausage, ribs, local white wine, red wine. {CAPTION}

We sat and ate and laughed with these guys for an hour and were invited back for a 2,000 year old local festival with a focus on orange fights next February.

Franceso joined us for 2K and then bid us goodbye as we staggered into Ivrea.
