Days 64-65: Cappezzano Pianore to Lucca
Taking a rest day in beautiful Lucca today.
We chose wisely I think as we sit here lounging in the lobby of Hotel Rex watching the rain pouring down. Can’t decide whether to continue sitting or go upstairs and take a nap.

Last night was quite special as we attended a Puccini concert at San Giovanni Church where Puccini was baptized. The singing was fantastico! So good we will return tonight.
Afterwards we were picked up by David and Francesca, 2018 Camino de Santiago buddies, who drove us into the mountains to Montecarlo for one more fabulous dinner.
Fattoria Il Poggio is an agriturismo restaurant serving all local Tuscan food including only their own wine. So wonderful to renew Camino friendships once again on VF.
Lucca is a medieval town with its surrounding wall still intact.

In San Martino Cathedral I see this painting of San Martin de Tours cutting his cloak in half to share with a beggar. I think that renditions of this painting are more common than any other painting on the pilgrim trails in France, Italy, and Spain.
